> Kimberton Hills Dairy has a herd of about 40 cows, mainly Brown Swiss and Friesian. Each cow has her own name; if they need medicine they are treated with herbs and homeopathy. Calves are kept with their moms til weaned. At Christmas the village comes to sing carols to them, and in spring they are garlanded with flowers before being released to pasture!
>Sweetwater Bakery’s bread is all naturally leavened, mixed and shaped by hand and baked in a wood fired brick oven, made from flour ground fresh in a slow moving stone mill.
>The dairy, garden and bakery are nestled within Camphill Village at Kimberton Hills, an anthroposophical eco-village that was created to provide a full, rich life for developmentally challenged adults in the context of a traditional village life. It sits on over 400 acres of gardens, farmland, and woodland, and is home to over 100 people of all ages.
