Drawn by his Brazilian roots, he began to explore and
perform Latin American music
in a very personal style that
made use of classical technique and an ever-deepening
exploration of the rhythmic intricacies of African-based
music. The
discipline required
in this form of art facilitated his
stepping into the spiritual path and diving into the
spiritual dimensions of music.
Ganesha has extensive experience
teaching guitar, music theory and ear training and
has been
incorporating techniques and philosophies of the yogic
tradition in his
teaching methods. Before beginning musical studies,
students are encouraged to
develop skills in concentration,
discipline, physical coordination and mental clarity by
incorporating yoga and meditation into their daily lives.
Besides guitar, music theory and
ear training, drumming lessons are available, taught
by
master drummer Sven Abow.
These lessons also have the spiritual dimensions
inherent in circle drumming and in the cooperative nature of
percussion instruments.
Students express spiritual ideals by sharing their
music and inspiring others at rallies
and demonstrations for
the causes of peace and justice.
Sampoņa (panpipe) lessons are
taught by Bolivian musician Carlos Arrien.
Drawing
on the Andean tradition, lessons explore the
social/cooperative aspects of melodies
that are divided
among the players and elements of breath control (pranayama)
that
are required for this instrument.
